Significant water savings and a wide range of available solutions-these two factors were key for a Dutch manufacturing company replacing its cooling systems. Two adiabatic dry coolers from MITA Cooling Technologies with support from Varmeco were chosen.
The end customer is a manufacturer of bathroom porcelain with a history of nearly three centuries in the ceramics industry. The company’s headquarters are located in Germany, but it has locations in Europe and operates globally. The installation under study is located in the Netherlands.
MITA Cooling Technologies, in cooperation with Varmeco, was approached by the client company to replace two old closed cooling towers used to remove heat during the production process.
After mapping process parameters and comparing different solutions, it was concluded that the use of adiabatic dry coolers would result in significant water savings. Indeed, this technology requires less water than other solutions (due to the short wetting cycles of the adiabatic pack). In addition, the client company benefited from the fact that it was no longer necessary to treat the water used in the cooling processes. During a short production downtime of a few days, the cooling towers were removed from the roof and the suppliers installed and connected the adiabatic dry coolers.
The proposed solution also included some special offerings, such as a recirculation kit, a removable wall for internal inspection, and a main control panel and human-machine interface (HMI) for remote control and management.
These elements decreed the success of the project.
